Aquatics Courses

Parent & Tot

Give your child a head start in aquatics and water safety by signing them up for Parent & Tot lessons as early as 4 months of age. Get them comfortable in the water and build a love of swimming - an activity that they can enjoy right through adulthood! Parent & Tot classes provide an opportunity for parents and children to enjoy in-water interaction in a fun and socal setting. Focusing on the importance of play and developing water positive attitudes and skills, children gain valuable exposure to being in and around the water. Parents will learn to be Water Smart to keep themselves and their children safe in any aquatic setting.

*** These lessons are the equivalent of the former Red Cross Starfish, Duck, Sea Turtle.

Parent & Tot lessons remain a parented class as always.

Preschool Lessons

Preschool gives children an early start on learning to swim. Children 3-5 years old will have fun while gaining foundational water skills and become comfortable in the water. Water Smart education is incorporated into all Preschool levels of support to children in learning how to keep themselves safe in and around the water.

*** Preschool 1 is the equivalent of the former Red Cross Sea Otter course. Enroll in this course if Red Cross Sea Turtle and Red Cross Salamander were incomplete.

*** Preschool 2 is the equivalent of the former Red Cross Sea Otter, Salamander, and Sunfish courses. Enroll in this course if Red Cross Sunfish was incomplete, or Red Cross Sea Turtle or Salamander was completed.

*** Preschool 3 is the equivalent of the former Red Cross Sunfish course. Only enroll in this course if Red Cross Sunfish was completed.

Parental/Guardian Supervision in the water during lessons will be OPTIONAL.

Swimmer Lessons

Swimmer is a 6-level, success-oriented learn to swim program for children 5-12 years old. There is a prominent focus on in-water swimming practice as swimmers learn fundamental strokes and skills, mastering them as they progress through the program. Swimmers also learn how to be safe in, on, and around the water through Water Smart education incorporated into every level.

*** Swimmer 2 - If the former Red Cross Swim Kids 2 was either complete or incomplete, register in this course

*** Swimmer 3/4 - If the former Red Cross Swim Kids 3 was complete, register in this course. If the former Red Cross Swim Kids 4 and 5 were either complete or incomplete, register in this course. If the former Red Cross Swim Kids 6 was incomplete, register in this course.

*** Swimmer 5/6 - If the former Red Cross Swim Kids 6 was complete, register in this course. If the former Red Cross Swim Kids 7 were either complete or incomplete, register in this course. If the former Red Cross Swim Kids 8 was incomplete, register in this course.

Swimmer Lessons 3/4 and 5/6 are combined classes.

Parental/Guardian Supervision in the water during lessons will be OPTIONAL.

Junior Lifeguard Club (Canadian Swim Patrol)

JLC is a place to build up water related skills; stroke development, water safety knowledge, water rescue skills, and a fun environment are all used to progress your child through lifesaving skills! This is a great way to keep swimmers involved in water related activities as they prepare for the next steps in the Lifesaving Society's programming

For swimmers between the ages of 8-15. Must be able to swim 25m and tread water for 30 seconds continuously. If you have completed the former Red Cross Swim Kids 8 or Lifesaving Society Swimmer 6, please register in our Junior Lifeguard Club. Registration will occur end of August. Look for updates!

Advanced Aquatics Courses

We offer a number of advanced aquatics courses - these are great for those looking to gain more skills in the water and can even lead to a job in aquatics. Our staff have years of knowledge and experience and will get you on track for a future in aquatics!

1-on-1 Training sessions and Private Lessons can be requested through the JBS Canada Centre by calling 403-362-3622. Bookings are limited and are subject to availability on a first come first serve basis.

Adult Swim Lessons

This is a program for all swimming abilities. Our goal oriented lesson planning allows for you to focus on areas you feel necessary, from swimming basics all the way to improving strokes and technique. Our instructors are here to help you reach your personally set goals when it comes to water and fitness.
